Dr. Debra L. Sutton is a counselor, educator and spiritual leader. Debra combines soulful creativity with spiritual insight. Bringing a holistic approach to her work, she blends psychotherapy with alternative models of spirituality and holistic health. She is recognized for her ability to create safe places in which individuals, couples, families and groups from diverse backgrounds and beliefs can come together to learn and grow.
As founder and principal of Soul-Etudes (Whole Person Studies), Debra has experience in designing innovative programs, experiential workshops, women’s retreats and labyrinth-centered programs, particularly around sensitive issues such as sexuality and spirituality.
Prior to joining Building Bridges, Debra served as an interim pastor at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and Gladwyne Presbyterian Church providing pastoral care and programming for Children, Youth and their Families, Single and Young Adults, and Women’s Ministries. Debra has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Widener University teaching a graduate course, "Cross-Cultural Studies in Human Sexuality" and at the University of Pennsylvania where she taught "Current Issues in Human Sexuality." She is also the former Director of Adult Ministries, for American Baptist Churches/USA and Director of Education for Planned Parenthood in DE and in PA.
