Karina Suero was born in Spain and obtained a medical degree at the Universidad Automoma, Madrid. She moved to the US where she resumed her life-long passion of helping others. She joined the world of therapy through the Philadelphia Child and Family Training Center, where she focused on developing her skills as a systemic family therapist, within an attachment-based, trauma-informed approach.

Karina has been working several years in a family-based setting, with a variety of presenting problems, including anxiety, depression, attachment difficulties, defiant and aggressive behaviors and school absenteeism, family conflict and other relationship difficulties. She is certified in ESFT ( Eco Systemic Family Therapy) which is geared to helping children, adolescents, adults, couples and families deal with intense family conflict and relationships struggles. She has completed her certification in NVR (NON-Violent Resistance), a therapeutic approach aimed to strengthen parental presence with families who have experienced trauma, with children who exhibit aggressive behaviors and adult children who have difficulty leaving home. She has also taken extensive training in Hypnosis and its applications to relieving depression and anxiety. She has also become an approved supervisor through the AAMFT and offers supervision and consultation.

Karina brings her training as a physician, a systemic therapist, her diversified life experiences, including the integration of the European and American cultures in which she has lived. She offers therapy in Spanish in addition to English.

On a personal note, Karina has raised three children with the help of her husband and an Australian Shepherd named Shiro. In her free time, Karina enjoys art, painting, especially in pastel, participating in art societies and art exhibits.

At the heart of Karina’s framework for promoting healing and growth is her belief in the potential healing power of relationships. Her therapy centers around developing self-awareness, understanding peoples’ distinctive ways of processing, and promoting acceptance, respect, and trust in relationships.

Karina has her private practice at Building Bridges in Media, PA where she works with individuals, families, couples, and groups.
